Situated only 1 km from the N2 on the Garden Route between Riversdale and Albertinia, this charming ostrich farm is the ideal halfway stopover between Cape Town and PE, with George Airport only 80 km away.
It also offers some of the finest examples of the unique collection of about 6 500 species of Cape fynbos (plants) that grow only on South Africa’s coast, and thatch reed that is another main source of income.

At Zoutpan Struishuis Guest Farm you will experience the warm Afrikaner hospitality of Engela and Bertie Horn in their stylishly decorated Cape Dutch self-catering units.
Here you can participate in the normal farm activities, like the collection of ostrich eggs, milking of cows and feeding of orphaned lambs or horseriding. You will also find 1000 ostriches at any time on the farm, 180 birds of which will be breeding.
Although ostriches are generally thought of for primarily providing decorative feathers, Zoutpan Struishuis Guest Farm also provides leather and meat for the export market while there is also a demand for the eggshells for artistic purposes.

Driving Directions
Travelling along the N2 on the Cape Garden route, away from Cape Town. After passing through Riversdale, you will pass the turn off to Stillbaai, this point is approximately 14km before the Zoutpan turn off. After 14km you will see a signboard indicating the turnoff to the right for Zoutpan Struishuis. You drive on a gravel road for about 1km before you get to the farm. The turnoff to Zoutpan is about 10km before the town of Albertinia.
